Toledo Educators Assisting Christian Homeschoolers (Updated August 2010)

TEACH is a homeschool co-op offering both parent-led and teacher-taught courses during the school year. Although unapologetically Christian in worldview, the co-op is open to all homeschoolers in Toledo and the surrounding areas. Currently, TEACH offers classes on Tuesdays beginning September 14, 2010 at Calvary Assembly of God (5025 S. Glendale Ave. in Toledo):

TRISMS Curriculum ( as a parent-led course.

IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing) taught by veteran writing instructor Cheryl Horton.

Music, including choir, band, strings, recorders, etc. under the covering of JOY music, led by Julie Ayers who has been teaching for over 20 years.

Apologia sciences this year include:
Biology (taught by Mollie Holdridge)
Chemistry (taught by Darla Clark)
Physical Science (parent-led)

Our parent-led courses are very inexpensive--usually requiring just a supply fee and contribution to a free-will offering for the church. Our teacher-taught courses are very inexpensive.

Classical Conversations
(Updated August 2010)

Robina Grunden is the Challenge I director of the Classical Conversations campus in Toledo, which is a Christian community that meets in a co-op setting once a week with an emphasis on the classical approach to homeschooling for children grades pre-K through 12. Tutors spend one day a week with parents and children covering the ideas and concepts presented through CC, then parents and students continue with assignments throughout the week. Our purpose is “to know God and make Him known”, through the classical education of our children.
For more information go to and click on Find a Community Near You at the top of the page. A map will appear. Click on Ohio, then Community Listing Links on the upper right hand side of the screen. Finally, scroll down through the different Ohio communities until you find Toledo SW. It will list contact info for the different programs offered through CC.

The Classical Tutor
Co-op in Petersburg, Michigan (Updated September 2010)

We meet at the Summerfield-Petersburg library on Mondays and offer classes for grades K-12.

The Classical Tutor is dedicated to assisting parents in raising a generation of leaders for our homes, communities, churches, places of business, and our nation. God has a wonderful plan for each of our children, and it is our prayer that He will use each child to enrich their generation, for “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me”; Psalm 138:8.

The goal of The Classical Tutor is to provide home-educating families the opportunity to participate in core subject classes based on the Classical education model of training the mind and equipping our children to think, reason, and express themselves.

Careful consideration has been given to each course, with the objective of offering meaningful academic programs that will benefit and challenge your students while reinforcing and satisfying the goals of your home-educating efforts.
